Discover Kenya with a 7 day safari, where you will visit Nakuru, the lakes and the Masai!
This safari is perfect for wheelchair users: the hotel rooms and lodges are wheelchair adapted and the transport is on a van with ramps. Porters can be hired for the more difficult parts of the itinerary and the staff is trained by the tour organisers, local agency GoAfrica Safari. GoAfrica has a long time experience in tours and safaris for people with mobility issues.
You will arrive and leave from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, in Nairobi, Kenya. (Google Map)
First of all, it is very important for people to know that a safari is very exciting and adventurous, but also tiring. One will have to be able to sit in a vehicle for 5-6 hours on some transfer days between the parks. If travelers get tired quickly, the agency will modify the program and extend the number of nights at each location, or eventually visit less areas.
This safari is indicated for the abilities listed below: however if the person needs help traveling, either s/he has a travel companion, a family member or assistant, or eventually there are local trusted carers that can join, at an additional cost.
For power scooter users, we will need to have the measurements of your scooter to make sure it fits in the vehicles used.
Diabetic travelers: the local agency can supply a coolerbox for medication and inform the camps/lodges accordingly, you can inform us beforehand and information on medical facilities for any emergency will be at hand.
Travelers with specific dietary requirements: appropriate menus can be set up, inform us beforehand.
Travelers with hearing impairments: SL guides are not available on the spot for the moment, but you can travel with your own guide/tour leader of course.
Travelers with visual impairments: the safari experience is a multisensory feast, so it can be a lot of fun for people with reduced or no sight. To be able to touch animals (not possible during a safari) visits can be arranged to, for example, the Giraffe feeding centre, or the David Sheldrick Elephant orphanage, where travelers can actually touch the animals.
