Do you dream of tasting exceptionally delicious and refined chocolate? Look no further!
Come taste & discover the best artisan chocolates from award-winning chocolatiers, all the while learning about chocolate from a passionate chocolate expert, and where else but in the capital of chocolate, Brussels. Taste and discover chocolate like never before!
Start: BS40/Darci Chocolatier (Brussels) (Google Map) and end: Sablon (Google Map)
This is a walking tour that starts on the cobblestones of the Grand Place, and there’s an uphill part from the Grand Place up to the Mont des Arts, so electric wheelchairs should have no problem. If there is a manual wheelchair, the person has to have some help from an accompanying person either with strong muscles for the steep bit, or we can arrange a taxi if the participant wishes.
If you require SL interpretation let us know! We can set this up for you (separate fee involved).
You’ll start at the Grand Place, “the most beautiful square in Europe,” as Victor Hugo, author of the famous Les Miserables, once said. You’ll first taste mouth-watering chocolate at one of Belgium’s most renowned chocolatiers, who was also the first chef to bring the macaron to Belgium. Through each degustation, you’ll be guided by a passionate chocolate expert who will explain how to taste each chocolate, and how to tell the difference between the best — and the rest. But it doesn’t stop there!
After hearing interesting facts about the beautiful Place, you’ll stroll to the beautiful Renaissance-style Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert with its luxury designer shops as well as theatres and cafes. It’s there where you’ll discover delicately exquisite chocolate from a World Pastry Champion — too good to have just one!
A bit of cobblestone there on the Grande Place until the Gallery, which is accessible and paved with flat slabs.
After the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, you’ll be guided to taste your next set of delicious award-winning chocolates from one of the world’s most creative chocolatiers, and with clear explanations, you’ll soon start grasping what makes each chocolatier and chocolate unique. Throughout the tour, you’ll get to ask whatever chocolate questions you’d like, as your passionate chocolate guide has been trained as a chocolatier, and has had many years working in the chocolate sector!
A short but steep part of climbing in this part, but not on cobblestone. Best for electric vehicles or in alternative we can arrange a taxi for the short steep part.
To complete your mouth-watering chocolate discovery tour, you’ll amble down to the historical Sablon area, where you’ll get to taste another set of chocolate, extremely different from one another, but also extremely delicious! By the end of the tour, your gourmet appetite should be satisfied after relishing 12 different chocolates from the best chocolatiers in Belgium and the world, as well as your intellectual curiosity, having uncovered the secrets of the bean-to-bar process…
